ISM is Looking for Board Members

I Still Matter is growing and we are looking to diversify and expand our board. The strongest nonprofits have a common thread-they possess an engaged and committed board that can help open doors and help build a sustainable organization. Becoming a board member can be a rewarding experience. Board members gain new skills and knowledge about nonprofits, business, fundraising and finance. Board Members gain professional experience while giving back to their communities. Being a Board Member takes time and commitment but the first requirements are motivation and interest! MISSION
I Still Matter’s mission is to foster mental and emotional healing through art and creative expression.

MEMBER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• A strong commitment to increasing the mental and emotional health of Jacksonville 

• The ability to articulate the organization’s mission to diverse stakeholders 

• Act as a brand ambassador for the organization 

• The ability to commit the time to attend monthly board and committee meetings 

• Actively fundraise for the organization through personal circles of influence and contacts 

• Set personal fundraising goals that align with the organization’s fundraising and finance goals 

• Attendance at all fundraising events

SPECIFIC SKILL-SET BEING SOUGHT
To further the organization’s comprehensive mission within the Jacksonville community we are actively seeking individuals from the following career fields and/or competencies:

• Finance/Accounting 

• Healthcare 

• Media 

• Sports/active living 

•Fundraising 

• Legal

• City Government 

QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive experience in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. A commitment to and understanding of mission of ISM with a strong network of local contacts. Personal integrity and passion for improving the health of those living in Jacksonville, FL. Strong communication skills and experience working with (and enjoying) a culturally and socially diverse population.

TIME REQUIREMENT
In person once/month board meetings. Around 2-hours/month of direct program support. Timely and active participation in board activities via email. Attend at least one ISM community support group within the first 6 months of tenure. Serve on at least one committee or task force.

LENGTH OF TERM
3 year term

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Working collaboratively with our our community stakeholders and community members, I Still Matter focuses on providing access to care for all. We encourage healing, provide hope, support, and recovery education for mental health consumers and walk with them on their path to wellness. We also provide opportunities for individuals to “give back” to their community as part of their recovery through outreach, education and leadership opportunities.
